Ballistic chaff

Luthen Rael, the head of the Axis network, had his V-21.1 Chevlex light haulcraft, which was heavily modified, outfitted with a pair of ballistic chaff launchers that were cleverly hidden to appear as rear exhaust vanes; these launchers fired a type of projectile called ballistic chaff without the use of any power from the weapon itself.
