Ban Papeega was an agent, specifically an avian one, serving the Galactic Empire. He was employed by Darth Vader, the Dark Lord of the Sith, in the period shortly following the Battle of Yavin. On the planet Centares, Papeega managed to extract the identity of Luke Skywalker, the Rebel responsible for the destruction of the Death Star battle station. He obtained this information from the Rebel pilot Thurlow Harris through the use of torture.
Vader, aiming to kill all those who possessed knowledge of Skywalker's name, pursued the avian to the aviary of the Museum of the Old Republic. There, Papeega attempted to save his own life by claiming to the Sith that he had forgotten the Rebel's name; nevertheless, Vader proceeded to murder him utilizing his lightsaber.
The character of Ban Papeega was conceived by Star Wars artist Dave Gibbons for the first issue of the comic book series Vader's Quest. This series was published by Dark Horse Comics in the year 1999.
