Bantha rump represented a culinary dish consumed by the Wookiee species.
Description
Frequently called bantha surprise, this dish consisted of a rump roast crafted from tenderloin cuts sourced from the bantha. It was then stewed within a broth infused with a diverse array of seasonings and vegetables indigenous to the planet Kashyyyk.
History
On one occasion, the Wookiee named Mallatobuck prepared this dish in observance of Life Day. Additionally, the Chef Gormaanda demonstrated its creation via a broadcast for her audience. However, the Wookiee matriarch, already burdened by concerns regarding her spouse Chewbacca's delayed arrival for Life Day, grew increasingly impatient with the meal's lengthy preparation time and ultimately terminated the transmission abruptly.
During the Life Day festivities of 1.5 ABY, several spacers managed to acquire recipes for bantha rump from Saun Dann, enabling its preparation by domestic traders.
Behind the scenes
The script for the Star Wars Holiday Special specifies the following ingredients as comprising the contents of the bowls: Beef Fillet, Sliced Potatoes, Celery, Jicama, Parsley, Bay Leaves, Garbanzo Beans, Radishes, Ginger Roots, Water, Cranberries, and Cooking Oil. These were listed as the recipe's components.
Within the MMORPG titled Star Wars Galaxies, bantha rump was incorporated into the game during the Life Day events of 2008. Inside the game, bantha rump was also known as bantha surprise, and the recipe for it could be obtained from Saun Dann through the use of Life Day propaganda tokens. The bantha surprise recipe was offered again during subsequent Life Day celebrations in both 2009 and 2010. It was able to be crafted by domestic traders, a profession focused on creating diverse goods, including food. Domestic traders effectively substituted chefs and artisans, following the removal of those professions from the game as part of the New Game Enhancements implemented on November 15, 2005.
