The Barbed Ginx was a rather innocuous, inquisitive amphibian commonly found in the swamps of Makeb. Dep Aila, a scientist, initially came across them on Makeb after discovering the creatures had dismantled the outer shell of his speeder while scavenging for sustenance. Their name derives from the "barbed" appendage on their "thumb," which they employ to strip bark from trees or decaying wood while hunting for bugs. Genetically, Ginx are related to the more hostile Vrakes. A dark green variant of the Swamp Ginx was frequently seen throughout the Endless Swamp on the planet of Zakuul. This species also thrived on the fourth moon of Yavin. Small Ginx were generally harmless, while larger Ginx exhibited aggressive tendencies. With proper training, a skilled handler could teach Ginx to carry out certain duties.
