The Battle of Aguarl 3 was a short-lived conflict of the Galactic Civil War. It occurred roughly half a year following the Battle of Yavin. During this battle, a fighter wing composed of TIE bombers launched an assault on a Rebel installation located underwater on the planet Aguarl 3.
Based on intelligence received from a Quarren informant, the Imperial Star Destroyer Ravagor rapidly sent a wing of TIE/sa Bombers with the objective of destroying the Rebel base concealed beneath the waters of Aguarl 3. The pilots assigned to this mission included Willks, Rawst, Parrot, and Ranulf Trommer.
Under the command of Leia Organa, the Rebel Base detected the incoming fighter squadron without delay, and subsequently activated their anti-aircraft defenses. These defenses quickly eliminated all but one bomber, the one piloted by Ranulf Trommer. Despite the damage sustained by his craft, Trommer managed to successfully fire three concussion missiles, which struck the base's launch bay. This caused the facility to flood, thereby forcing the Rebels to evacuate.
Upon returning to the Ravagor, Trommer and his damaged ship were retrieved using the Star Destroyer's tractor beam and brought aboard the flight deck. Imperial Firefighting droids then extinguished the flames on the craft and extracted the critically wounded Trommer, who was immediately taken to surgery. His life was saved, but he lost a leg in the process. Disgusted by his cybernetic replacement, Trommer tried to conceal it upon his return to service, as he considered it a mark of dishonor.
Ranulf Trommer's solo victory in the battle resulted in him becoming known as the "Hero of Aguarl 3" by both the Empire and the Rebel Alliance. This achievement also led to his assignment to Governor Grigor's garrison on M'haeli as a spy working for Grand Moff Lynch Hauser.
