The significant engagement known as the Battle of Duro took place during the Mandalorian Wars, specifically around the year 3962 BBY. As part of their strategic initiative known as Mandalorian Triumph, the Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders advanced from their holdings in the Outer Rim across the galaxy to reach Duro, which resided in the Core Worlds.
Atton Rand, a former soldier of the Republic, described how the Mandalorian attacking force at Duro deployed Basilisk war droids that "rained down like meteors onto the orbiting cities," among other vehicles. During the conflict, the Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders devastated almost the entire planet, compelling the inhabitants to join forces with them against the Republic. The Neo-Crusaders also tried to seize large quantities of military equipment from the shipyards orbiting Duro, but their efforts were thwarted by the arrival of a fleet of Interdictor-class cruisers led by the Jedi Revan and Malak.
In the wake of the battle, Supreme Chancellor Tol Cressa appointed Revan as the commander of the Republic's military forces.
