The conflict on Keskin transpired approximately nine months following the Battle of Yavin during the era of the Galactic Civil War. During this engagement, the forces of the Rebel Alliance launched a raid on the Imperial controlled world of Keskin. Among those who fought were Malis, Reydon, and Ohvan.

Numerous exquisite aerial structures present on the planet suffered direct hits from artillery fire, plummeting from the skies and scattering debris across the combat zones. As the confrontation neared its conclusion, a well-defended Rebel stronghold found itself under siege, with Rebel forces staging ambushes against Imperial units while the Imperials were preoccupied with the Rebel artillery emplacements.
The Rebel's primary ion cannon, having neutralized numerous walkers, became a high-priority target. The Empire, choosing to pull back the walkers, instead initiated aerial attacks on the main fortification, which resulted in a downed TIE/sa bomber leader crashing into the ground, devastating a small section of the battlefield and crushing troops. Subsequently, the Imperials received orders to withdraw, having sustained significant casualties, as had the Rebels.
Ultimately, the Rebels suffered a devastating defeat, with many being captured. Due to the considerable loss of life on the Imperial side, the prisoners endured harsh treatment, with some subjected to torture as retribution.
Lieutenant Janek Sunber was a participant in this battle, surviving multiple brushes with death. He eventually developed a conviction that his fortunate survival was due to a higher power, compelling him forward for an unknown purpose. This conviction led him to become determined to betray information about the Rebel Alliance's great hero, and his childhood friend, Luke Skywalker.
