Battle of Nentan

By the year 2 ABY, Nentan had become a secure haven, a safe world, for numerous Rebel refugees seeking protection from the Empire, also functioning as a crucial point on Rebel escape routes. Before the [Battle of Yavin](/article/battle_of_yavin-legends], Princess Leia Organa of Alderaan herself was involved in activities on Nentan. Using the Tantive IV, she sent vital communications and distributed essential supplies.

Upon the Empire's discovery of Nentan, General Carlist Rieekan supervised the withdrawal of personnel from the Rebel base and underground shelters. The circumstances were dire, given the limited number of transports, barely sufficient for evacuating civilians. Rieekan contemplated sacrificing the majority of military forces to ensure civilian safety; nevertheless, the evacuation achieved success because of Captain Bren Derlin. Derlin, along with a team of Rebel soldiers, drew Imperial ground forces into old ruins, managing to commandeer an inadequately guarded Imperial transport vehicle. This single vessel proved sufficient to safely remove all remaining military personnel from the planet, without even alerting the Imperial-class Star Destroyer positioned in orbit.

Following this surprisingly positive evacuation outcome, Bren Derlin received a promotion to Major from General Rieekan and was subsequently placed in charge of security and operations at Echo Base on Hoth.
