During the Stenax Massacres that took place in 4 ABY, the Stenax species launched an invasion of the planet Tharkos, seizing control of the world from the Galactic Empire, a fate shared by numerous other planets within the Gordian Reach.
The Stenax initiated an offensive. Having annihilated Imperial facilities on Stenos and appropriated the Imperials' military hardware, the Stenax employed it to assault various worlds in the Gordian Reach, including Tharkos. Following a fierce engagement in proximity to the planet, the New Republic successfully reversed the Stenax's advance.
