The Stenax Massacres represent a period of intense conflict. These events unfolded in the aftermath of the Battle of Endor and occurred during the broader Galactic Civil War.
Following the establishment of a Galactic Empire presence on Stenos, the Stenax homeworld, some Stenax individuals ventured off-world. They took on roles as mercenaries or performed various tasks for minimal compensation, with limited social interaction. This was part of a calculated scheme by the Stenax to analyze other species and identify those most vulnerable to subjugation. These operatives were strategically placed on Hunter's World, Kabray, Delrakkin, Cilpar, and other planets. They mastered the advanced technologies of these worlds while awaiting the signal to initiate their attacks. Some Stenax even posed as traders, secretly assessing their trading partners as potential adversaries. Tragically, the true intentions of these off-world Stenax remained undetected until it was too late to prevent the impending massacres.
In 4 ABY, specifically during the 40:1 month of the GrS calendar, hundreds of Stenax launched coordinated attacks on Imperial forces stationed on their respective worlds, resulting in their deaths. They also targeted non-military populations, leading to the demise of all non-Stenax inhabitants. However, not all Stenax residing away from Stenos participated in these violent actions. The Stenax seized control of advanced technology brought to Stenos by the Galactic Empire and initiated invasions of Kadril, Arda-2, Sooma, Alzar, Tandankin, and other planets within the Gordian Reach. The Stenax Massacres resulted in millions of deaths, with the devastating bombardment of Kadril rendering the planet uninhabitable. In 5 ABY, the Mon Calamari, despite prioritizing the defense of the nascent New Republic, dispatched a significant force from Mon Calamari Space to quell the Stenax campaign. New Republic forces defeated the Stenax at Tharkos in 5 ABY.
The surviving Stenax crew members were imprisoned, and orbital observation posts were established around Stenos to monitor their activities. Following the massacres, the New Republic maintained strict surveillance over the Stenax's access to advanced technology. While Stenax living off-world who did not participate in the massacres were permitted to remain, New Republic Intelligence kept them under observation. Historians have drawn parallels between the massacres and the actions of the Yevetha during the Black Fleet Crisis. Many Stenax established settlements on Belderone and Kulthis, and sociologists, based on their behavior in these locations, warned of the potential for another similar event.
