Belnar was an astronomical body located at coordinates M-9 on the standard galactic grid, situated where the Colonies and the Interior regions met. The Belnar Insurrections, which occurred no later than 3 ABY, shared the same name. During these insurrections, Everi Chalis, an emissary representing the Galactic Empire to its ruling council, took punitive action against the crew of the starship Mandible for an unspecified incident, which included executing those deemed responsible.
The mention of the Belnar Insurrections in Battlefront: Twilight Company, a novel by Alexander Freed that was published on November 3, 2015, marked Belnar's introduction into current Star Wars canon. The fifty-second issue of De Agostini's magazine series Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon, which came out around December 30 of that same year, was the first time it was identified as a celestial object. In Star Wars Legends continuity, the planet Belnar was initially referenced within Wanted by Cracken, a sourcebook created by Louis J. Prosperi for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game by West End Games, and released in 1993.
