Ben Kenobi's home

Ben Kenobi, also known as Obi-Wan Kenobi, resided in Ben Kenobi's hut from 19 BBY until 0 BBY. This structure served as his home during that time.

The hut's location was on the southwestern fringe of the Dune Sea on Tatooine, situated roughly 136 kilometers away from the Lars homestead. Its precise coordinates were Alpha-1733-Mu-9033 within the first quadrant of the Tatooine navigation system. Constructed from synstone, the hut featured a main room divided into a living area and an elevated kitchen, along with a separate bathroom. A trapdoor provided access to a cellar containing a power generator and water supply. Over his nineteen years there, Obi-Wan enhanced the dwelling with various amenities.

History

The layout of Kenobi's hut

The original structure was likely erected by a temporary inhabitant who had hoped to become a moisture farmer or engage in trade with the Jawas, but ultimately abandoned the endeavor. Obi-Wan discovered it upon commencing his self-imposed exile on the desert world. After traversing the area around the Lars homestead on his eopie, he located a small hut that was sufficiently close to the Lars farm to allow him to watch over Luke Skywalker, yet distant enough to maintain his image as a recluse, thus avoiding excessive attention. He stored recordings containing information regarding the Jedi Order there, along with the necessary materials and tools for constructing new lightsabers.

In 1 ABY, Malakili, Jabba the Hutt's beast master, hired a spacer to explore and investigate the hut. The spacer uncovered a fossilized resonance chamber originating from a krayt dragon, which Obi-Wan Kenobi had previously employed to intimidate Tusken Raiders.

Following his escape from Cloud City, Luke Skywalker resided there for a number of weeks.

After the conclusion of the Galactic Civil War, Obi-Wan's hut was transformed into an attraction included in the Skywalker Tour, having been rediscovered and renovated by Myhr Rho. In 9 ABY, after Leia Organa Solo permitted the Force to guide her to the hut, she found it had been plundered, devoid of everything except Kenobi's workbench and a peculiar datapad located in the cellar. In 12 ABY, Luke Skywalker revisited the hut in a failed attempt to reestablish a connection with his mentor, who had long since passed away. Upon his arrival, the hut remained in almost the same condition as when his sister had found it, with the exception that the roof had collapsed.
