In the year 40 ABY, Ben Skywalker received a vibroblade from his mother, Mara Jade Skywalker. Unbeknownst to Ben, Mara had installed a hyperspace transponder within the weapon, enabling her to locate him when her Force abilities were insufficient. Jade discovered Ben's presence on Vulpter, thanks to the vibroblade, at the time of the assassination of Dur Gejjen, the Corellian Prime Minister, by a Galactic Alliance Guard assassin who was actually Ben Skywalker. Subsequently, while trailing Lumiya, Mara attempted to utilize the tracking device once more; however, Ben had left the vibroblade at Lon Shevu's residence, and he was actually the one pursuing Mara.
