The operation known as the Mission to Vulpter was conceived by Colonel Jacen Solo, tasking Ben Skywalker with the assassination of Dur Gejjen, the Five World Prime Minister and leader of the Confederation. This assassination was executed following a clandestine meeting between Gejjen and Cal Omas, Chief of State of the Galactic Alliance. Despite its success, the mission led to the demise of Lieutenant Jori Lekauf of the Galactic Alliance Guard, an event that profoundly affected Ben Skywalker.
Following the acquisition of proof implicating Dur Gejjen in the failed attack targeting Tenel Ka Djo, Jacen Solo assigned his apprentice, Ben Skywalker, to assassinate Gejjen. Concurrently, Gejjen initiated his grand strategy to invade Coruscant and secure victory in the war. He reached out to Cal Omas, the Galactic Alliance Chief of State, to arrange a meeting. Omas, eager to bring the conflict to an end, agreed to participate in the "peace negotiations". During their discussion, they briefly considered assassinating Jacen Solo and Cha Niathal before deciding to continue their talks on Vulpter. Unbeknownst to them, the Galactic Alliance Guard was monitoring their conversation, and a transcript was relayed to Colonel Jacen Solo, who then explored the possibility of a coup with Niathal. To get ready for the mission, Ben trained extensively with a GAG Karpaki Fifty sniper rifle, achieving 95% accuracy, and even dyed his hair a shade of brown.
Ben, accompanied by Captain Lon Shevu and Jori Lekauf, subsequently arrived at the Charbi City Spaceport in a vintage Incom Corporation tourer, the designated location for the meeting. After the two heads of state had arrived and began their meeting Lekauf placed a strip-cam in their room so they could listen in on the meeting and gather evidence of Omas bypassing the Senate and negotiating with an enemy leader. Once the meeting concluded, Ben located Gejjen and executed a perfect headshot. In the ensuing chaos, Ben reunited with Shevu and Lekauf, and the trio attempted to blend into the crowd, only to be intercepted by CSA officers before they could escape. Vulpter authorities had sealed the port, intending to search everyone present. Lekauf then seized the sniper rifle from Ben and took a woman hostage, feigning to be a Corellian terrorist and threatening her life unless granted passage in the Incom tourer. Shevu and Ben exploited the distraction to flee. Ben didn't understand why they were leaving Lekauf behind until he saw Lekauf enter the tourer and destroyed it while he was inside to maintain the cover story that the assassination was carried out by a Corellian terrorist.
The loss of Jori Lekauf left Ben deeply scarred. He felt responsible for Lekauf's death and later shared his feelings with his mother, Mara Jade Skywalker. Simultaneously, Lon Shevu informed Lekauf's family about his death, providing them with a fabricated account to conceal his involvement in the mission.
After enacting a law that granted him the power to detain heads of state posing a threat to the Galactic Alliance, Jacen Solo used the information gathered during the mission to justify Omas's arrest and his and Niathal's takeover of the Galactic Alliance. While the Jedi Council and the galaxy at large were stunned by these events, they remained largely unaware that a potentially devastating attack on Coruscant had been averted.
