Besn

Besn was a planet found within the Besn system. The Besn system was located in the Mayagil sector, itself a part of the Trailing Sectors region of the Outer Rim Territories. This planet was the place of origin for participlays, an art form. The Art group, belonging to the Coalition for Progress within the Galactic Empire's Commission for the Preservation of the New Order, would evaluate and judge these participlays. A short time after the Battle of Yavin, Imperial Intelligence mentioned Besn's participlays in a report. This report was meant for an Imperial Grand Moff. Later, Rebel Alliance historian Major Arhul Hextrophon added this report to a collection of Imperial documents. This collection was for Alliance Supreme Commander Mon Mothma and other Rebel officers.

Behind the scenes

The Imperial Sourcebook, penned by Greg Gorden and released in 1989 by West End Games for the Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game, was the first to mention Besn. A 1990 roleplaying game article, "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, How I Wonder Where We Are," published in the thirteenth issue of Voyages SF magazine, situated Besn in the Taldot sector. Given that this article was not officially Lucas Licensing approved, its canonicity within the Star Wars Legends continuity remained unverified. The Essential Atlas, a reference book from 2009, placed the Besn system, and therefore the planet, in grid square N-18. Later, the StarWars.com Online Companion for the book superseded the Voyages SF 13 placement. It established that the Besn system was actually located within the Mayagil sector.
