Subsequently, as the war progressed and Black Sun aligned itself with the Shadow Collective, the Collective's military forces, including their commander Maul, utilized this fortified base as a strategic location to prepare for the consequential Battle of Ord Mantell against the Separatists.
This Black Sun fortified base was featured in the 2014 comic book Darth Maul—Son of Dathomir 2. Jeremy Barlow wrote the comic, and Juan Frigeri provided the illustrations. The comic's narrative was derived from scripts intended for an uncompleted story arc from the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series, which were authored by Matt Michnovetz and Aïda Mashaka Croal. Will Nichols created concept art depicting the command post of the fortified base for episode production code 6.22 of the original story arc.
