Bol

The bol was a mammal species that originated on the planet Dantooine. Though they were raised mainly for milk production, they also served as popular riding animals, even outside their native Dantooine. Unfortunately, excessive hunting for their hides led to a consistent decrease in the bol population. This hunting was largely driven by individuals from the Dantooine Mining Outpost, a hub for hunters and creature handlers seeking to hunt or tame bols. The bols typically stayed within a mile of the outpost, making them easily accessible targets for hunters, which resulted in the destruction of their habitats. They were known for producing milk.

Skilled beast masters were capable of domesticating bols, utilizing them as transportation mounts.

Behind the scenes

Bols made an appearance in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game. This game was developed by Sony Online Entertainment, published by LucasArts, and ultimately shut down on December 15, 2011. With the "Publish 4" update on November 13, 2003, players could craft bols into mounts. However, this feature was removed with the release of "Publish 25," also known as the "New Game Enhancements," on November 15, 2005. The feature was eventually reinstated with the "Chapter 6" update, which was released on May 22, 2007.
