Explosive droids were a specific kind of droid. Functionally, bomb droids were mobile explosives, engineered to locate a designated target and self-detonate upon reaching proximity. As they rushed toward their objectives, they emitted a war cry. The Trade Federation deployed bomb droids on their flagship, the Saak'ak, and on the planet Naboo during the Invasion of Naboo in 32 BBY. A Jedi's Force push would cause them to immediately explode, and they were also vulnerable to destruction via blaster fire, lightsaber attacks, or other explosions.
The 2001 video game Star Wars: Obi-Wan features bomb droids, and they are also documented in the game's strategy guide. Throughout the Naboo sections of the game, the player encounters and fights them in multiple missions. In a modified sequence from Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, two bomb droids act as an escort for the Queen.
