Captain Malau Jocaos of Imperial Intelligence, harboring suspicions that his former classmate Var Narek had aligned himself with the Rebellion, formulated a scheme to enlist him into Imperial service. He meticulously planned an aerial assault that decimated several Imperial structures and civilian businesses, falsely claiming they were Rebel hideouts. This resulted in the tragic deaths of Var Narek's younger brother and his entire family. Swiftly, the blame for the bombing was directed at the Rebels, whose supposed actions led to the demise of innocent individuals uninvolved in the war.
The devastating loss of his young niece and nephew utterly shattered Var Narek's resolve, leading him to pledge allegiance to the Imperials with the aim of crushing the Rebel Alliance. He sought out his old acquaintance from his school days, Malau Jocaos, now an officer within Imperial Intelligence, and betrayed the Alliance.
Subsequently, Var Narek was dispatched to the Rebel base on Arda I, disguised as a fellow freedom fighter, where he dedicated months to gathering crucial intelligence in preparation for an impending attack.
