In the year 19.1 BBY, an explosion rocked a hangar located inside the Jedi Temple, resulting in the deaths of six Jedi, along with several clone troopers and members of the maintenance crew. Initially, suspicion fell upon Jackar Bowmani, a Temple employee, but the true culprit was revealed to be his wife, Letta Turmond, who had used nano-droids to trigger the blast.
Following her apprehension, Turmond disclosed to Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano that a dissatisfied member of the Jedi Order had orchestrated the bombing. However, before she could reveal the Jedi's name, she was silenced with a Force choke, which also resulted in Tano being wrongly accused of Turmond's murder.
The bombing was motivated by the increasing distrust of the Republic populace towards the Jedi Order.
Later, Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker uncovered that Barriss Offee had succumbed to the dark side of the Force and was responsible for the destruction of the Temple hangar. After a duel within the Temple, Offee was defeated and taken into custody.
