Bombing of the Senate Hall

Following his bombing of Pydyr, the Dark Jedi known as Kueller plotted to utilize explosives hidden within droids to detonate the Senate Hall. This was planned to occur during the inaugural session after an election, intending to initiate hostilities against the New Republic and plunge it into a political upheaval. The droids were constructed and equipped with the explosives on Telti, under the direction of Brakiss, and then smuggled onto Coruscant by a smuggler named Jarril.

As the senate session commenced, Chief of State Leia Organa Solo greeted the newly elected senators, including Meido, who were former Imperials permitted to run for office due to the enactment of new legislation. The droids, carrying concealed explosives, were strategically positioned primarily around senators loyal to the New Republic, rather than the ex-Imperials, before being detonated. The resulting explosion reverberated throughout the chamber, causing shrapnel to scatter widely. Fragments of the crystal ceiling began to fall, and tiles installed by Emperor Palpatine detached and plummeted across the hall like a storm. The explosion also generated shockwaves that caused nearby structures, such as the Crystal Jewel, to tremble.

The interior of the Senate Hall was severely damaged by the blast, although the exterior suffered no significant structural compromise. The attack resulted in the deaths of 25 senators, among them M'yet Luure, as well as a number of senate guards. An additional 100 senators sustained injuries. Leia Organa Solo also suffered minor wounds and experienced temporary hearing loss.

Immediately following the event, a team of guards and medical personnel was dispatched to aid the wounded. Han Solo also hurried to the hall to ensure Leia's safety. Leia suspected the former Imperials' involvement in the attack, but Han entertained the possibility of Jaril's connection, who was attempting to relay a warning at the time of the explosion. Han and Chewbacca resolved to journey to Smuggler's Run to explore this lead. Luke Skywalker arrived at the chamber after the attack and sensed through the Force that the event consisted of multiple smaller explosions rather than a single large one, and that Brakiss was somehow involved.

The majority of the former Imperials were unharmed and gained proportionally greater influence, leading to the formation of a powerful new faction within the senate under the effective leadership of Meido. They acquired circumstantial evidence implicating Han Solo in the explosion and attempted to leverage this to initiate a vote of no confidence, aiming to remove Chief of State Solo from her position.
