Boona Tanje existed as a female being during the period known as the Galactic Civil War, a time of great conflict.
Within the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided, Boona Tanje was implemented as a non-player character. This massively multiplayer online role-playing game was created by Sony Online Entertainment and brought to the public by LucasArts. The game's servers were ultimately shut down on December 15, 2011.
Because the "naboo_nomad" template was used for Boona Tanje's spawning, her visual representation was subject to randomization from a pool of 120 possibilities. Among the species that Tanje could be depicted as were Aqualish, Bothans, Bith, Humans, Rodians, Trandoshans, Twi'leks, and Zabrak of both sexes, along with male Devaronians, Ishi Tib, Nikto, and Sullustans. Even though the quest text identified Tanje as a female, the specific canonical species remains undetermined within the context of Star Wars Legends continuity. In one instance within the quest's dialogue, Boona Tanje was mistakenly called Boonja Tanje.
