Brennen, a Human of the male gender, resided on Zakuul, the capital planet of the Eternal Empire. As the offspring of the Exalted, who headed the Heralds of Zildrog – a group devoted to the serpent-god of myth, Zildrog, that held dominion over Zakuul's Old World – his life took a dramatic turn in 3631 BBY. In that year, the Lady of Sorrows took Brennen prisoner and leveraged him as leverage, compelling his father to appear at the Razor. When the Heralds arrived to negotiate with the Lady of Sorrows, they were overwhelmed, resulting in their collective demise. The Lady herself slew the Exalted and subsequently installed Brennen as the new Exalted, entrusting him with the leadership of the Heralds.
