Bug-Eyes was a pilot of the male variety, a member of the sentient species that originated on the world of Xantar. Following the destruction of an Imperial cloning installation by a Rebel Alliance officer, he encountered Luke Skywalker. Aboard his starship, the pilot transported Skywalker to Xantar. On Xantar, he presented the young Rebel to Indiana Jones, whose planet he had visited previously.
The design of this character was intended to evoke the stereotypical image of extraterrestrials that are thought to visit Earth, specifically the Greys. His initial appearance was at the conclusion of the video game Indiana Jones and His Desktop Adventures, where he departed with Indy in his flying saucer. As a nod to that prior game, both he and Indiana Jones later made appearances in Yoda Stories.
