Floating structures known as buoy-buildings existed on the Outer Rim planet of Pipada during the Imperial Era. These structures were built to float on the surface of the planet's lakes. A multitude of shops were often found on these floating buoys, which were connected to each other and secured to buildings in the city center.
The Star Wars Roleplaying game sourcebook, Dawn of Rebellion, released in 2018 by Fantasy Flight Games, included a reference to buoy-buildings. The book is a roleplaying supplement.
