"Buyer's Market" is a brief narrative penned by Timothy Zahn, originally featured within the pages of Star Wars Insider 126.
While situated on Vorrnti City, Lando Calrissian paid a visit to Blackie's, a junkyard managed by an individual known as Blackie. Lando made it known to the proprietor that he was in pursuit of some elusive items, having been directed to Blackie's as a likely source. Cravel, the smaller man accompanying Blackie, pressed Lando for specifics regarding his desired goods, but the smuggler remained tight-lipped. However, Lando soon identified his quarry amidst a collection of weathered harvesters. He inquired with Blackie if it was an AT-AT, but Blackie declared it unavailable for purchase, prompting Lando to resume his search. Lando then stumbled upon a pair of Huttese Marsh Crawlers, expressing his interest in acquiring them. Upon Lando's request to employ tractor-haulers for their removal, Blackie suggested a brief postponement, citing the impending arrival of a prominent real estate magnate. Lando, in turn, proposed securing them immediately and renting a nearby warehouse for storage. Blackie consented, leading the trio into the office to finalize the transaction.
An hour later, Lando and Blackie employed the haulers to relocate the first crawler. Lando discharged his weapon at the hauler's undercarriage, concluding that he had detected some scrap rats beneath the hauler. Regrettably, Lando inflicted damage upon the hauler, necessitating repairs by Blackie. Blackie instructed Lando to return to his vessel, anticipating a few days for the repairs. Lando returned to his ship, Lady Luck, fifteen minutes later and went to his comm board. He contacted the Coruscant Military Command and requested Lieutenant Judder Page of the Katarn Commandos.
The VIP that Blackie had referenced materialized, accompanied by bodyguards, but their purpose was not related to real estate. Lando discerned that they were after Glitterstim, detectable by its distinct aroma. Page informed Lando that his men were ready and Lando informed Page that his were too. The AT-AT advanced towards the marsh crawler obstructing the entrance, but Lando had anticipated this. He strategically positioned the marsh crawler to block the entryway, preventing the AT-AT's egress. However, this proved insufficient. It commenced firing upon individuals, resulting in immediate fatalities. Individuals emerged from the AT-AT, hauling two containers back inside. The two men were struck by stun shots, and then the AT-AT stopped firing. Lando disclosed to Page that he had enlisted Carvel's crew to restore the AT-AT to operational status. His intention was to transport the AT-AT to Nkllon City, requiring an additional thirty-nine AT-ATs to complete his endeavor. He resolved to ascertain the most favorable terms Blackie would offer.
