Calcoraan was a planetary body, an ocean planet, that resided within the Calcoraan system, situated within the Inner Rim. This planet was completely enshrouded by a vast ocean composed of chromyl chloride, which, when combined with various acids, rendered the world unfit for habitation and also gave the planet a blood red color. Despite its inhospitable nature, the substances found within the planet's ocean and on its seabed proved valuable for manufacturing purposes. Consequently, numerous space stations were erected in orbit around Calcoraan. A storage facility in orbit was owned by Count Denetrius Vidian.
