The planet [Calcoraan](/article/calcoraan], a desolate world, resided within the confines of the Calcoraan system, a type of star system. In the initial years of the Galactic Empire's rule, the space station known as Calcoraan Depot also existed within this system, under the ownership of the industrialist Denetrius Vidian. Upon Vidian's assignment to the Gorse system with the objective of enhancing the productivity of thorilide mining operations there, he dispatched a fleet of starships to the Calcoraan system. Their mission was to retrieve explosives from Calcoraan Depot, intended for the destruction of the moon Cynda.
The novel A New Dawn, penned by John Jackson Miller and published in 2014, marked the initial appearance of the Calcoraan system.
