John Jackson Miller


John Jackson Miller is a multifaceted American creative, working as a comic-book writer, a novelist, and a commentator. He is particularly recognized for his contributions to the Knights of the Old Republic comic series and the Knight Errant comic series, both published by Dark Horse Comics. His body of work also includes the short story Labor Pains, the novel Kenobi, and he shared writing duties on the Knights of the Old Republic Campaign Guide, amongst a large collection of other works. A recurring theme in many of Jackson's narratives is the examination of the responsibilities shouldered by the Jedi.

Beyond his storytelling, he has served as editor for periodicals such as Comics & Games Retailer, Comics Buyer's Guide, and Scrye: The Guide to Collectible Card Games. Additionally, he has authored books, including The Standard Catalog of Comic Books. He also dedicates time to researching comic-book sales data, which he publishes on his historical website The Comics Chronicles. His entry into professional comics began in 2003 with Crimson Dynamo for Marvel Comics, which then led to his work on Iron Man. His initial contribution to the Star Wars universe was in 2005 with Star Wars: Empire.

In 2009, Miller also penned the comic book adaptation of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

2015 saw the release of Miller's inaugural Star Trek novel, Star Trek: The Next Generation: Takedown, which was met with considerable praise from readers.

His most recent literary endeavor is Batman: Resurrection, a novel that is set within the timeframe between the 1989 Batman live action film and its 1992 sequel, Batman Returns. It is scheduled to be available in late 2024.
