Calders

As a Human serving as a security guard within the Galactic Empire's detention facilities located on the planet Odik II, Calders rapidly ascended through the ranks, ultimately achieving the position of warden for the entire prison complex. Subsequently, he was transferred to the prison planet Despayre, where he oversaw the prisoner workforce engaged in the construction of the Empire's DS-1 Orbital Battle Station superweapon. Later, he was assigned directly to the DS-1 Orbital Battle Station itself. By the time he held the rank of major, Calders was in command of a section of detention blocks aboard the superweapon before the Battle of Yavin occurred.

Biography

Calders, a Human, served the Galactic Empire, beginning his career as a security guard at Odik II, a planet housing Imperial political prisoner detention camps. These camps formed a highly classified installation containing numerous dissidents from the Galactic Republic who resisted the Imperial New Order. Calders demonstrated exceptional service, leading to his swift promotion through the ranks until he became the warden of the entire prison complex.

The DS-1 Orbital Battle Station, in which Calders ultimately commanded a wing of detention blocks

His performance in the detention wards made Calders an ideal candidate for assignment to Despayre, the prison planet serving as the construction site for the Empire's DS-1 Orbital Battle Station superweapon. He managed the prisoner labor force, transforming them into a highly efficient unit. His achievements surpassed expectations, earning him commendations from the DS-1 Orbital Battle Station's Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin and General Cassio Tagge.

Before the Battle of Yavin, Calders, by then holding the rank of major, was reassigned to the completed DS-1 Orbital Battle Station, where he was placed in control of a wing of detention blocks. His personnel were well-trained and familiar with his operational preferences. With the prison cells unoccupied, Calders awaited the arrival of the first prisoner contingent to populate them.

Personality and traits

Calders readily accepted the praise of Tarkin and Tagge for his exceptional work on Despayre. His subordinates were well-versed in his operational style within the detention blocks of the DS-1 Orbital Battle Station that he oversaw. Tasked with guarding prisoners and maintaining their condition until further instructions, Calders remained courteous but struggled to conceal his satisfaction when orders for interrogation or harsher treatment were issued.

Calders was a powerfully built man whose uniform seemed stretched to its limits. He embodied restrained aggression. His physical prowess defined his character. He stood at a height of 1.75 meters, and his moustache showed traces of gray.

Skills and abilities

Calders's performance at Odik II, where he began as a security officer, was so remarkable that he quickly rose to become the warden of the planet's detention center.

Equipment

Calders was equipped with a comlink, blaster pistol, stun truncheon, and an interrogator kit attached to his belt.

Behind the scenes

Calders was conceived for the Death Star Technical Companion, a sourcebook for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game written by Bill Slavicsek in 1991.
