Description

The planet Odik II, found in the Deep Core, held the second orbital position in the Odik system. It was linked via the Byss Run hyperlane to both the Prakith and Byss systems.

History

Odik II was part of the Republic's Sector 5 theater during the Clone Wars.

During the initial campaigns of the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems in 22 BBY, the system of Odik was situated within Sector 5. This space sector was defended by the Republic Military's Fifth Deep Core Army against the Confederacy's military forces. Under the rule of the Galactic Empire, Odik II functioned as the center of authority for Grand Moff Cinzero Gann.

Odik II was also the location of highly classified political detention wards employed to imprison numerous dissidents of the Empire. The Human male officer Major Calders began his career as a security guard at the prison camps located on Odik II. His performance was outstanding, leading to his promotion to warden of the whole detention facility. By 0 BBY, Calders had been reassigned to the Imperial Death Star battle station, which at the time was under construction above Despayre, a planet in the Outer Rim Territories.

Behind the scenes

Odik II was first referenced in Death Star Technical Companion, a 1991 sourcebook by Bill Slavicsek for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game by West End Games. The 2009 reference book, The Essential Atlas, placed the Odik system, and consequently Odik II, in grid square K-11.
