Campaign against Republic Militarization

The Campaign against the Republic's growing military consisted of multiple speeches and tours conducted by Padmé Amidala during 23 BBY. These were aimed at preventing the passage of the Military Creation Act.

During one of her stops at the University of Commenor, her statement that supporters of the Act were acting cowardly sparked considerable backlash from the Stark Veteran Assembly.

The concluding speech of the campaign took place at Chommell Minor during the opening month of 22 BBY.

Amidala had intended to deliver a speech to the Senate before the crucial vote regarding the campaign. However, this speech was initially postponed by a day due to an assassination attempt on her life and subsequent security evaluations. Later, it was postponed without a set date because Supreme Chancellor Palpatine insisted Padmé go into hiding on her home planet of Naboo, which she was unhappy about. Despite suspecting that Count Dooku, a former Jedi, was responsible for the earlier assassination attempt, she strongly suggested to the Senate that a pro-Military Creation Act senator was behind the attempt on her life when she revealed she was still alive.
