The Cardan V-class space station represented the pinnacle of the Cardan-class space station line, being the fifth iteration constructed for the Galactic Empire. Functioning as both a shipyard and a formidable defensive structure, it was the most advanced Cardan design. Given adequate resources, it could construct and service an Imperial-class Star Destroyer.
These stations were created to augment the pre-existing Cardan-class models. During the Battle for the Eclipse in 4 ABY, three Cardan V-class space stations were in operation, but they were all annihilated by a joint fleet from the Zann Consortium and the Rebellion.
