Hailing from the planet of Sundari, Carl Barzon was a male Human. As a student, he relocated to the adjacent world of Garos IV, where he pursued advanced studies at the University of Garos. Barzon chose to stay on Garos IV, earning recognition as a distinguished scientist and professor. In 19 BBY, Barzon initiated an investigation into the ore known as hibridium. This substance, uniquely located along the western shores of Garos IV's primary landmass, exhibited inherent cloaking abilities. Around 5 BBY, when the Galactic Empire established its presence on Garos IV, Barzon became a member of the Committee of Seven for Garosian Unification, a resistance organization opposing Imperial rule. The professor was concerned that the Empire's potential acquisition of his hibridium research could lead to the creation of weaponry that would enable them to control the galaxy.
