Casey Donahue Ackley is a former staff member of LucasArts, having contributed to the creation of a number of video games.
Steve Dauterman, who was the Director during the making of Star Wars: Rebel Assault, requested that Ackley supervise the production and manage the critical issues that arose during the game's final phases. Serving as Associate Producer, she supported the main programmer designer Vincent Lee, managed administrative tasks, communicated with marketing, streamlined communication between Lee and the art team, reorganized and reprioritized shots frequently. The game's manual and reference card were written collaboratively by her and Lee. Her role as Associate Producer is acknowledged in all releases of Rebel Assault (PC, Macintosh, FM Towns and Sega CD).
In October of 1993, she was tasked with showcasing Rebel Assault at the Mill Valley Film Festival. As the final presenter, she showed the game to individuals involved in multimedia and film. Despite her lack of prior experience with it, she publicly played a beta version of the game, feeling it contrasted sharply with the more "artsy" works that had been presented earlier. The audience responded positively, and the presenter expressed interest in purchasing the beta version for personal use.
