CBS Broadcasting, Inc. (formerly known as the Columbia Broadcasting System), often shortened to CBS, stands as a major television network within the United States.

Within the Star Wars saga, CBS holds significance as the network that originally broadcast The Star Wars Holiday Special during its singular appearance on American television screens on November 17, 1978. Furthermore, CBS also televised the Star Wars specials titled SPFX: The Empire Strikes Back in 1980, and Classic Creatures: Return of the Jedi in 1983. In addition, Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope premiered on network television via CBS on February 26, 1984.

Throughout the 1980s, several Star Wars home video releases were distributed under the CBS/Fox Video banner, a collaborative endeavor between CBS and 20th Century Fox.
