Ceela, a "miracle-liquid", was a pink substance discovered on the volcanic planet of Vernost. This substance had the ability to accelerate the growth of plants, enhance the speed of engines, and potentially extend Human lifespans indefinitely across time. During the Galactic Civil War, both the Alliance to Restore the Republic and the Galactic Empire fought for control of this liquid. Rebel X-wing starfighters tried to collect Ceela from the planet's canyons while being targeted by Imperial turrets.
The intention was for Ceela to be featured in Vernost, a video game that was ultimately canceled. This game was intended to be played on the "Mirage" flight simulator and was a joint project between LucasArts and Hughes Training. Before the game's cancellation, the storyline was revealed in David S. Moskowitz's article, "Hughes Training Premieres Star Wars Simulation," published in the February 1993 edition of the fifth volume of Larry Flynt Publications' VideoGames & Computer Entertainment magazine. The name Ceela appeared in Richard A. Marini's article, "Virtual Reality Pod," which was featured in the May 1993 issue, the 8th edition of Bonnier Corporation's Popular Science magazine.
