Chain (droid)

Chain was the designation assigned by Darth Maul to a Duelist Elite droid employed for his lightsaber combat practice. Consistent with the designation, it wielded a chain crafted from metal. Constructed with a blaster-resistant durasteel frame, the droid was programmed with a diverse range of martial arts techniques, capable of executing them at velocities exceeding those of Humans. Originally, its programming incorporated a safety mechanism to prevent fatalities post-victory, but this restriction was eliminated by the Sith Lord. During 32.5 BBY, Maul, utilizing his lightsaber, initially severed the droid's legs at the knees. Subsequently, in a maneuver known as Rancor Rising, he vertically split the droid from its groin to its head while engaged in combat with three other Duelist Elites, namely Cudgel, Hachete, and Rapier, resulting in irreparable damage.
