A female Jedi Master named Chankar Kim existed in the closing years of the Galactic Republic. Around 22 BBY, Kim chose Tallisibeth Enwandung-Esterhazy to be her Padawan, despite the girl's weakness in the Force. When Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi was taken captive during a mission to the planet Geonosis, Kim joined a Jedi strike team dispatched to free him. During the subsequent conflict, Kim was killed, resulting in Enwandung-Esterhazy becoming an orphaned Padawan.

Chankar Kim, a female who was Force-sensitive, lived her life in the last decades preceding the end of the Galactic Republic. After being accepted by the Jedi Order and undergoing training, Kim rose through the ranks, ultimately achieving the status of Jedi Knight and then Jedi Master. In 22 BBY, three months prior to the start of the Clone Wars, she chose Tallisibeth Enwandung-Esterhazy, known as "Scout," as her Padawan, even though Mace Windu, a member of the Jedi Council, and other Jedi did not understand what Kim saw in the girl who was weak in the Force.
Obi-Wan Kenobi, a Jedi Knight, was captured by the Confederacy of Independent Systems on the planet Geonosis three months after Kim took Scout as her Padawan. Windu put together a group of Jedi to rescue him, and Kim was selected to be a part of this group. Before departing, she told Scout that her Padawan would accompany her on their "next mission." However, the rescue attempt escalated into a large battle against the Confederate droid army, and Kim died in the Petranaki arena, leaving Scout an orphaned Padawan who suffered from survivor's guilt. Three years later, her Padawan found a new Master in Jai Maruk. However, on their first mission together, Maruk was also killed, leaving Scout without a Master once again.
The first mention of Chankar Kim was in Yoda: Dark Rendezvous, a novel penned by Sean Stewart and released in 2004.
