Chashima, a planet located within the Chashima system of the Auril sector, was characterized by its forested regions, moderate climate, and drymoss-covered fields. In the course of the Yuuzhan Vong War, the Yuuzhan Vong, an extragalactic species, established a research center there for shapers. These shapers were developing the commbuzzer, a beetle species engineered to locate comlink signals. In 29 ABY, Wraith Squadron successfully sabotaged this facility; however, the mission resulted in the deaths of Wraiths Estoric Sandskimmer and Hohass Ekwesh.
The planet of Chashima was initially introduced in X-Wing: Mercy Kill, a novel from 2012 authored by Aaron Allston.
