Cherishite

The Cherishites, a group with quasi-religious beliefs, sought refuge from the Galactic Republic's persecution by finding and inhabiting the planet of Rhamalai. On a small section of Rhamalai, they established a settlement, prioritizing the development of a society that lived in balance with the natural world. After a century of years, corporate explorers stumbled upon Rhamalai and tried to seize the planet for their own purposes. However, a local Jedi Knight, who was originally among the first colonists, stepped in and ensured that the Cherishites retained control of Rhamalai. Throughout his extended life, the Jedi Knight remained the protector of Rhamalai, until his death during the Great Jedi Purge.

Following the Jedi's passing, the Cherishites turned their attention to forming a governing body for the planet. Agriculture was a vital component of Rhamalai's economic system, a vulnerability exploited by the Empire. Subsequent to the pivotal Battle of Yavin, the Galactic Empire successfully invaded the planet. The Empire then forcibly recruited one male from every Cherishite family into the Imperial forces.
