Childress

During the era of the Cold War between the Republic Military and the Sith Empire, Childress, a male Human, achieved the rank of Captain. As part of the Taris Resettlement Initiative's security forces, he was stationed on the world of Taris. His duties involved overseeing security at Waypoint Station Aurek, which served as the Republic's main outpost in the rakghoul-infested regions beyond the resettlement zone.

When an individual allied with the Republic successfully resolved a dispute over land in Olaris, Private Sakal, who served under Childress, informed the captain that this person was willing to assist with another matter. Childress then requested that they locate a commando unit he had dispatched to the wreckage of the Endar Spire. The Endar Spire was a Republic vessel destroyed by Darth Malak before the bombardment in an attempt to eliminate Bastila Shan. This team was tasked with guarding researchers who were trying to retrieve the Spire's data logs, which were thought to be essential for defense against any future orbital bombardment similar to the destruction of Taris or the Sacking of Coruscant.

The individual made their way to the destroyed Spire, where they assisted Lieutenant Karlsu, the lone survivor of Childress' fifth commando team, in escorting the researchers past the pirate groups and to the ship's computer systems. After the individual had overcome the pirates, Karlsu said he would let the captain know of their success.

Childress was originally developed for Star Wars: The Old Republic, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game launched by BioWare on December 20, 2011. After Republic players have finished the Taris mission called "Reclaiming What's Ours", Private Sakal will ask them to speak with Childress at Waypoint Station Aurek. The captain then gives the player the mission "Wake of the Spire", where they must help the commando unit inside the remains of the Endar Spire.
