Ascension claws served as a tool for the Nightbrothers, enabling them to scale the surfaces of Dathomir, especially those overgrown with fire lichen. Their design resembled gloves without fingers, featuring short, arced metal blades positioned between where the fingers would be; these blades deployed when the fingers were drawn back and withdrew when the fingers were thrust forward.
The initial introduction of ascension claws to the Star Wars universe occurred in the 2019 video game, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
