Composite-beam laser

Superlaser2 The superlaser being discharged by the Death Star I A composite-beam laser functions by converging several laser beams at a specific focal point, thus creating a single beam with significantly amplified power, directed along a particular trajectory. It goes without saying that such technology has the potential for immense devastation. The Death Star II and the Death Star I are prime examples of this. We can observe smaller scale applications in weaponry such as Arb Skynxnex's double blaster, and the anti-personnel turrets found on the Republic LAAT/i. The OG-9 homing spider droid employs a guided version of the composite beam laser.

During certain engagements, engineers would construct beam cannon emplacements in strategically important locations to impede the progress of enemy forces. A case in point would be the Battle of Kashyyyk. In this battle, two turrets were positioned on elevated platforms near the central Republic command center, their purpose to slow the advance of the Separatist forces into the area. Moreover, the Separatist's crab cannon deployed in the Battle of Mon Calamari was armed with a beam-laser as its primary armament.
