The company garnered significant recognition for both its commercial and military craft; a substantial number of Republic Navy warships were produced by Corellia StarDrive, much to the dismay of Corellian Engineering Corporation.
Akin-Dower was a subsidiary of Corellia StarDrive. When the Sith Empire launched an invasion of Corellia during the Galactic War, Corellia StarDrive allocated its corporate resources to financially support the resistance against the Sith. Consequently, the Empire retaliated by obliterating the company's main offices, inflicting a devastating setback.
The period of Corellia StarDrive's dominance was relatively brief; a bizarre accident involving a shuttle resulted in the death of the entire senior design team. Corellia StarDrive was unable to overcome this catastrophic loss and was eventually acquired by Corellian Engineering Corporation approximately two millennia following its inception.
