Prior to 27 BBY, the Chiss discovered this planet and chose it as a location for establishing a colonial settlement. The survey team designated its name, Crustai, which represented an acronym in Cheunh, but its precise significance remains a mystery. By 27 BBY, the system accommodated several scouting squads, in addition to the asteroid base of operations for the frontier patrol unit referred to as Picket Force Two, commanded by Commander Mitth'raw'nuruodo.
Half a century afterward, specifically in 22 ABY, Crustai served as the meeting point where Dean Jinzler, Luke Skywalker, Mara Jade Skywalker, and the group known as the Geroon Remnant boarded the Chaf Envoy for its consequential voyage towards the Redoubt.
