Crutag

A fearsome and resolute Taloron Hunter was Crutag. He was notorious for his arrogant claims that he was always successful in capturing his bounty targets. He held Boba Fett in low regard, considering him to be significantly overrated. Crutag, in collaboration with fellow Bounty hunters Slizzik and Slimego, once engaged in the pursuit of a group of Rebel agents who had a price on their heads. As their ship approached Trinta, Crutag launched an assault, resulting in a crash-landing on the swamp planet. However, Halagad Ventor employed the Force to trap both Crutag and the rebels, preventing their departure from the planet.

Biography

Following the conclusion of the Taloron Pirate Conflict, Crutag, a Taloron Hunter who had served in the Taloron Pirate Conflict, became a member of the Ragnar Syndicate, which was a member house of the Bounty Hunters' Guild, establishing his base of operations in the Merel sector. When Noval Garaint, a fellow hunter from Ragnar, falsely accused Crutag of a crime that Garaint himself had committed, the Taloron chose to leave Ragnar and pursue his hunts independently.

Crutag developed a reputation as a hunter to be feared, often boasting of his perfect record in apprehending targets. The reality was that his skills were only adequate, but he was known for his unwavering determination and brutal methods. He assembled a team of assistant hunters and acquired the Taloron Prey Chaser named the Scent of Fear. Crutag's crew was diverse, and at one point included a Taloron lieutenant, who met their end during a hunt. Despite publicly proclaiming loyalty only to himself, Crutag privately believed that the Galactic Empire was the legitimate governing body of the galaxy.

At some point during the Galactic Civil War, Crutag discovered that a bounty had been placed on a group of Rebel Alliance operatives, offering 10,000 credits for their capture dead, or 20,000 alive. The Taloron encountered the Rebels at Kwenn Space Station and initiated a pursuit, but they managed to escape by stealing a ship. Knowing that the Rebels would soon need to replenish their supplies, Crutag deduced that they would seek refuge on the nearby planet Trinta. He then traveled there with a crew of 20 minions aboard his ship, the Scent of Fear, with the intention of ambushing the group. While in orbit, Crutag tried to disable the Rebels' ship, but he ceased his pursuit when they entered the atmosphere and descended into the planet's forests. As the Rebels made a forced landing, Crutag and his crew landed safely. Once on Trinta's swampy terrain, Crutag dispatched his minions to locate the Alliance operatives. However, they were confronted by strange apparitions—which they did not know were Force illusions created by the fallen Jedi Halagad Ventor. As a result of these terrifying encounters, Crutag lost several of his subordinates. When the Scent of Fear seemingly vanished—concealed by Ventor's manipulation of the Force—Crutag, accompanied by eight assistants, embarked on a mission to find the Rebels himself.

Unbeknownst to Crutag, he had attracted the attention of Ventor, who sought to corrupt the Taloron and exploit his strength and vitality for his own purposes. To this end, Ventor orchestrated a final confrontation between Crutag and the Rebels, hoping that the ensuing battle would lead to Crutag's victory and further his descent toward the dark side. Crutag eventually caught up with the Rebels on one of Trinta's islands. He accused them of murdering his crew and stealing his ship, but he was confused as to why the Rebels had not used the Scent of Fear to escape the planet. Nevertheless, the Rebels managed to evade the Taloron Hunter.
