The Cult of Lord Nyax, also known as Lord Nyax's Cult or the Nyax Followers, was a religious group on Corellia. This group venerated the mythical figure of Lord Nyax and committed several terrorist acts in his name.
The Nyax Followers paid homage to Lord Nyax, an age-old Corellian spirit whose name was used to frighten children. The Cult of Lord Nyax was a secretive and feared organization. These cultists were dangerous zealots who aimed to terrorize the citizens of Corellia, emulating Lord Nyax himself. Even though Lord Nyax was simply a mythological figure, the Cult was nonetheless headed by a male who identified himself as Lord Nyax.
According to the Rebel Alliance and former Nyax Followers, the Galactic Empire secretly supported the Cult. The Cult harbored a strong dislike for the Jedi, and when Darth Vader arrived on Corellia to eliminate the Jedi present, terrified residents mistakenly attributed the name of Nyax to Vader. The Cult seized upon this idea and came to believe that Vader was possessed by the spirit of Nyax. As a result, the Nyax Followers treated Vader with a degree of reverence, viewing him as an inspiration to massacre additional Jedi throughout the galaxy. Despite these beliefs and the rumors of Imperial support, the Cult of Nyax did not particularly align themselves with the Galactic Empire.
The Cult of Lord Nyax was established several years before the Galactic Civil War. As the Cult's influence grew, it became a source of problems for the Corellian Security Force. For many years, CorSec had pursued a strategy of containment rather than outright destruction. However, following the Battle of Yavin, the Cult of Nyax engaged in open conflict with CorSec and its mercenary allies from Beldonna's League.
During the Galactic Civil War, the Cult of Lord Nyax operated from a hideout located in the Riverlands area of Corellia. After the Battle of Yavin, Lock Vlash, a former Follower of Nyax, managed to escape the Cult. Vlash remained concerned that some cult members might seek revenge on him, particularly after he attempted to sell information regarding the location of Lord Nyax's Cult hideout.
