Cult of Those Who Redeem

After the Loag's defeat at the hands of the Jedi, the Meris and Teltiors started to revere them and their principles. As a result, they established the Cult of Those Who Redeem, an organization frequently referred to as simply the Cult by the inhabitants of Merisee. This group attained a kind of quasi-mystical prominence on their planet.

To become a member, hopefuls were required to complete a demanding series of evaluations, and those already in the group were obligated to keep their involvement a secret.

Cult members also pledged to adhere to the Jedi Code as closely as possible. Moreover, they sought to uncover the mysteries of the Force, though this was secondary to maintaining the moral and intellectual purity deemed necessary to become a Jedi. Numerous well-known and powerful figures on Merisee belonged to the cult. They worked in various ways to maintain peace, safeguard the vulnerable and blameless, and raise the standard of living on their world. Some took a hands-on approach, operating as independent protectors, while others collaborated within their government or the business sector to promote wise governance or offer aid and support to those in need.

During the Imperial period, the Cult was forced to operate in secrecy to avoid provoking an "eradication" by the Empire. Given that Emperor Palpatine understood that the Jedi Knights posed the greatest danger to his authority, he could not permit the existence of a cult that glorified their beliefs and disseminated their stories. Any Jedi arriving on Merisee would inevitably draw the Cult's interest.
