Dael Margok

title: Dael Margok

Dael Margok, frequently known by the title Commodore, was a male Zabrak mercenary and criminal. During the Galactic War, he commanded the Nova Blades pirate organization. In 3637 BBY, Revan hired the Blades to chart new hyperspace lanes in the vicinity of Rishi, a task that Margok oversaw. Additionally, Revan engaged a Mandalorian group led by Torch, but Margok's actions led to the clan withdrawing from the Order of Revan's influence.

Biography

Margok, as the leader of the Nova Blades pirate group based on Rishi, held absolute power. By the time the Galactic War began, he was the most powerful criminal figure on the planet. In 3637 BBY, Revan enlisted Margok and the Blades to launch hyperroute assaults and skirmishes against both Republic and Imperial fleets, disrupting numerous key hyperspace routes. Although Margok briefly collaborated with a local Mandalorian clan, his conduct caused them to abandon the Order's service and retreat deeper into Rishi.

Later that year, an unidentified gang attacked the Blades, seizing several weapons caches in aerial raids on the Skyline Falls camp. Donovarr, the officer in charge, contacted Margok and requested permission to evacuate the camp to prevent total destruction. Margok refused outright, ordering Donovarr to eliminate the intruders. However, the officer was killed, and his command post was destroyed by bombs. Shortly after, the Nova Blades' slave camp was also attacked, resulting in the liberation of most of the slaves held by the Blades. Upon learning of these attacks, Revan terminated the agreement with the Blades, stating that they had "served their purpose." Margok attempted to conceal the incidents, but Revan saw through the deception and demanded that the threat be neutralized before any alliance could resume.

Margok retreated to the Blades' headquarters, a downed corvette named the Aggressor, and prepared his forces to strike back at the rival pirates. During the preparation, the gang destroyed and scavenged several comm towers for decoder modules, which allowed the Aggressor to be located. An agent of the rival gang fought their way through Blade forces to reach the ship, but was stopped at the main hatch. Margok contacted the agent, cursing the rival pirates and declaring his readiness for a final showdown. The agent battled through the ship to the command deck, where Margok confronted the gang's forces. He was killed in the resulting battle.

Personality and traits

Margok, with his light skin and dark Zabrak facial tattoos, was a figure of fear among Rishi's inhabitants as both a mercenary and a gangster. After taking over the Nova Blades following his predecessors' departure, he cultivated a reputation as a ruthless and controlling criminal, a fact that no one dared to dispute due to his absolute control over the organization. He managed the Blades with brutal efficiency and maintained his tactics even when Revan hired the gang to attack Republic and Imperial patrol routes.

Behind the scenes

Margok's first appearance was in Star Wars: The Old Republic: Shadow of Revan, an expansion pack for the Star Wars: The Old Republic video game, which was released in 2014. The holo messages intercepted by Theron Shan vary slightly depending on the player's faction, featuring minor dialogue differences. Republic players witness Margok speaking directly to Revan about ending the Nova Blades' contract, whereas Imperial players see Margok initially addressing a Revanite captain, demanding to speak with Revan, before threatening to break their agreement, which prompts Revan to intervene in the conversation.

Liam O'Brien provides the voice for Margok.
